Terry L. Piatt's Obituary
A memorial service for Terry L. Piatt, 83 of Heath will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Vensil & Chute | Newark with Pastor Tom Pound officiating.
Terry died unexpectedly March 29, 2026 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born May 23, 1942 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Homer Dale and Margaret (Manley) Piatt.
Raised on his family farm, Terry developed a strong work ethic and life-long values of honesty, compassion and service. Terry was a veteran of the Vietnam War and spent over 20 years in the Ohio National Guard.
Terry participated in Civil War reenactments, loved rodeo, horses, cowboy shooting and his shiny cowboy boots. Terry ran seven marathons in his life. He also cleaned the cannons on the grounds of the Ohio Statehouse and received honors for the best working cannons.
Terry attended Spring Hills Baptist Church. He loved the Lord, his family, friends and especially his wife of 13 years, Joyce (Lane) Piatt.
In addition to his wife, Terry is survived by a brother, Dennis (Cindy) Piatt; brother in-law, Mark (Patti) Lane; sister in-law, Brenda (Kevin) Borders; a niece, Jolene Nethers; nephews, Jason (Leslie) Piatt, Aaron (Morgan) Piatt; two step-daughters; two step-granddaughters; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jean; a son, Eric Lynn Piatt; and a brother, Homer D. Piatt.
