Oma L. Cooperrider's Obituary
A funeral service for Oma L. Cooperrider, 97 of Newark will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Rath officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooperrider died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Arlington Nursing Home. She was born June 21, 1917 to the late William and Eva (Woolard) Kelley. She had worked at Woolworth’s, Don’s Bike Shop, Dr. Mannino’s office, Newark Public Library, American Cancer Society and First United Methodist Church, where she retired in 2001. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Brownsville Chapter #486 for 67 years where she held several positions including Worthy Matron four times and Grand Representative to Vermont in 1982. She was also an active member of First United Methodist Church, where she had served as a leader in the Elizabeth Circle, Candle Lighters and taught Sunday school.
Mrs. Cooperrider enjoyed making blankets for babies, turbans for cancer patients, watching Ohio State football and Days of Our Lives. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, bowling, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her four children, Edwin (Ruth) Cooperrider, Donald (Pat) Cooperrider, Eva Mae (Tom) Cooperrider Crosbie, and William (Susan) Cooperrider; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren who were a joy to her.
Mrs. Cooperrider was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Russell Cooperrider; four brothers and four sisters.
Friends and family may call 5 to 8p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark. An Eastern Star service will be conducted at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
