Jerry Bowden's Obituary
NEWARK: A funeral service for Jerry Bowden, 83 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m.Monday, April 22, 2013 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home withReverend JCP Sullivan, St. Francis de Sales Parish Priest officiating. Burialwill be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Jerry passed away Thursday,April 18, 2013 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice ofCentral Ohio. He was born February 22, 1930 in Lowell to the late Benjamin andEdna (Dobbins) Bowden.
A 1948 graduate of NewarkHigh School, Jerry attended The Ohio State University and was employed as anelectrician with IBEW #1105. He servedhis country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In addition to IBEW, he was a member of theAmerican Legion, AMVETS, Eagles, Elks, and Newark Maennerchor. He enjoyed wood working, cooking and was anavid golfer. He loved to golf in Ohioand Florida.
Survivors include his wifeof over 59 years, Amy (Henzy) Bowden, whom he married November 14, 1953; sons,John (Deb) Bowden of Ostrander, Jim (Paula) Bowden, Jake (Karen) Bowden, all ofNewark; daughters, Cindy Gardner of Newark, Sam (Mark) Cox of Westerville; adaughter in-law, Linda Bowden of Newark; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Richard)Coleman, Barbara (Rob) Lovell, Jennifer (Daniel) Bowden, Jessica (Jake) Hinton,Jeff (Angela) Bowden, Joanna (Nick) Kelley, Andrew (Jessica) Bowden, JanetBowden, Jon Bowden, Michael Bowden, Christopher Bowden, Amy Cox and CatherineCox; ten great-grandchildren; a brother David (Anne) Bowden of Findlay; and asister, Nina Broderick of California.
In addition to his parents,Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Joe Bowden; a granddaughter; and agreat-granddaughter.
Friends and family may callfrom 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERALHOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
Memorial contributions maybe made to St. Vincent de Paul or the Foundation for Hospice of CentralOhio. Envelopes will be available at thefuneral home.
