Fred was a true Renaissance man, learned in so many ways & quite charming to boot! As a 12 yr. old, I developed a tremendous crush on him which has lingered to this day. He became a confidant, mentor, & cherished friend. He was a “people person” who gave his full attention,asked questions, & often left them laughing over one of his ornery stories! Oh how we’ll all miss him...

When I was about 6 years old or so I would walk my dog to to visit Dr. Nichols . He would talk to me and then tell my mother I was there and smile. He was a very special person.
Fred was an amazing man that lived a full, and productive life. He was my father's (David Brooks) cousin and best friend growing up . He was fun to be around and was a great storyteller and listener. I will miss him. Love to Fred and all his family and friends.
Fred knew my family for decades, we all knew him and his family members, and I have memories of him going back to very early childhood. He was a wonderful person, a very talented and dedicated veterinarian, and someone who was devoted to both family and community. He always greeted me with a big hug and he always had interesting stories or commentaries. God bless him and i'm glad he, Bob, and their mother Ila will all finally be reunited in heaven...there will never be another Fred Nichols.
What a guy! We were so blessed to have Fred, as well as Bob, in our lives. So many fun memories. Bet those two are catching up on a lot of stories. We will always look at play bills, mementos from their travels, pictures and remember their generosity as well as their friendship.
I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Nichols. Like many in the area he was our family veterinarian for many years. His kindness and warm heart toward our dogs were not only his profession but his personal passion. His empathy and gentle demeanor has been a topic of conversation many times over the years for our family. I am so thankful he was there for us and our family pets. I hope his family will have many warm and special memories to bring them comfort as they move through this time of grief. Know that there are many of us in the community that greatly admired Dr. Nichols.
