Wilma Belle Markert McClain's Obituary
Wilma Belle Gault Markert McClain, 84, of Toboso, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home Monday evening, February 15, 2021. Her caregivers, her son Doug, and Jewel were at her side.
Born November 16, 1936 in Toboso she was the daughter of the late Russell T. and Gladys I. (Romine) Gault and was a 1954 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. Wilma was a Registered Nurse and graduate from the Good Samaritan School on Nursing in Zanesville, Ohio. She was very active in the Nazarene Church and the United Methodist Church, both in Toboso, since she was a child. Wilma loved to fly with her late husband, Douglas, in his airplanes. She enjoyed camping with her husband, Richard, at Walnut Acres in Newark and Wild Bill’s La-Z-Acres in Nashport. They were also “snowbirds” to Florida in the winters.
Surviving is her son, and caregivers, Douglas R. (Jewel Neuberger) Markert, Jr.; two daughters, Luanna (Jeff) Crawmer and Lucinda (Kevin Welsh) all of Toboso; four grandsons and two great grandsons. Also surviving are her step-children, Sherry McClain and Richard McClain, Jr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Douglas R. Markert, Sr., who died September 9, 1976; her second husband, Richard E. McClain, Sr. who died June 8, 2014 and her beloved aunt, Grace Gault.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Hanover Cemetery where Wilma will be laid to rest with her children’s father and late husband, Douglas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice of Gahanna, Ohio, or to Toboso United Methodist Church.
