William E. Lange's Obituary
A funeral service for William Emil Richard Lange, 82 of Heath will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Mark Katrick and Pastor Daniel Fullen officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens with the Licking County Veterans Alliance providing Military Funeral Honors.
Bill passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Newark Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center with his loving family by his side. He was born March 19, 1935 in Newark to the late Edgar and Martha (Krall) Lange.
A 1953 graduate of Newark High School; Bill worked as a Drafting Designer and past owner of Train Car Ltd. He was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces; he was initially drafted in the U.S. Army - Aviation Section then served as an instructor and flight line mechanic on C-119 flying boxcar in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where he served on church council. Additionally he was a member of Alturas Lodge #537 F&AM in Millersport, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Shrine, Columbus; a Boy Scout leader who served on the National Staff of Boy Scout Jamboree in Butler, PA. He also served as PTO president at Newton Elementary and was a past-president of North Fork School Advisory Council.
Survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly (Montague) Lange; a son, Brent (Rhonda) Lange of Howard, OH; daughters, Barrie (Tim) Schneithorst of Hampstead, NC, Beth (Scott) Swick of Ft. Loramie, OH; grandchildren, Heather (Rod) Bostic, Melissa (Ken) Ristau, Tyler (Courtney) Lange, Erika (Carter) Rowley, Joel Swick, Shea Swick and Emma Swick; nine great grandchildren, Isabelle and Weston Bostic, Delaney, Micah, Aiden and Kaelyn Ristau, Jaxon and Emerie Rowley and Harbor Lange; three nephews, Rick, Marty and Jeff Lange. Bill also had a special love for his grandpups.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Lange and Edgar Lange, Jr.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service Saturday at the church, 285 W. National Drive, Newark. Masonic services will be conducted at 12:45 p.m.
