William H. Gienger's Obituary
A funeral service for William H. Gienger, 84 of Newark will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel, Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Hinkle officiating. Entombment will be in Newark Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Gienger died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Newark Hills, Autumn Health Care. He was born July 20, 1931 in Newark to the late Elmer Andrew ”E.A” and Geneva M. (Baughman) Gienger.
He was retired from Diebold. He was a previous owner of Spring Hill Bottling Co. and had worked part-time for Goodwill Industries. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed farming and had raised dairy and beef cattle. He was a member of Madison Grange. His favorite tractors were FarmAll. He always enjoyed playing Euchre and recently spent hours assembling jigsaw puzzles.
He is survived by his children, Timothy (Carol) Gienger of Heath, W. Todd (Tina) Gienger of Wadsworth, Susan (Phillip) Carter of Newark; grandchildren, Andy Carter, Erica Carter, Tiffany Carter, Maggie Gienger, Tyler Gienger, Matthew Gienger, Heather (Jay) Morrow, Ryan (Jenny) Comisford; great-grandchildren, Kameron Gates, Izaiah Gates, Alexiyanna Delabion, Jordan Carter, Courtney Palmer, Phillip Imanuel Carter, Austin Morrow, Zachary Morrow, Declan Comisford.
Calling hours will be observed Monday, January 25, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Newark Chapel, VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Helen L. (Warman) Gienger who died on December 20, 2005 and his sister, Louise Gienger.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association, 1100 Dennison Avenue, Columbus, OH 43201. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
