William Kenneth Frost's Obituary
William Kenneth Frost, 94 of Newark passed away Monday December 28, 2015 at the Price Road Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 25, 1921 in Frazeysburg to the late William R. and Leatha (Ashcraft) Frost.
Kenny was a graduate of Frazeysburg High School. Following graduation, he began a career in the oil and gas industry building standard rigs. In 1942 he was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corp serving over three years attached to the Flying Tigers squadron as an ordnance technician in China, Burma and India. After his discharge, he formed W.K. Frost, Inc., a contract drilling business providing oil and gas drilling services for Pure Oil, Don Vernau, Ray Penick, Earl Mossholder, Oxford Oil, Dorsey Oil & Gas, Allen Willey, Guy Sitler and others. From 1966 to 1973 he was the field manager for Ponderosa Oil. In 1998 he was inducted into the Ohio Oil and Gas Hall of Fame.
Kenny was a 70 year member of the Frazeysburg Lodge # 490 F & AM. A charter member of the Licking County Pony Pullers. He enjoyed hunting on the family farm, fishing in Canada and gardening. His favorite time was spent with family and friends.
He is survived by sons, Douglas (Barbara) Frost, Gregory (Kristina) Frost, William K. Frost, Jr.; daughter, Beth (Kim) Thomson all of the Licking County area; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years on December 1, 2015, Mildred Ellen (Swick) Frost, whom he married on July 27, 1947; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and William Miller.
The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful caregivers at Home Instead Senior Care and Price Road Health and Rehabilitation Center as well as Kate, Kathy and Jamie who have helped along the way. They were very special to Kenny and the family.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday January 4, 2016 at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, NEWARK CHAPEL. Masonic services will be at 7:45 p.m.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, FRAZEYSBURG CHAPEL with Pastor Rube Gayheart officiating. Burial will follow in the Frazeysburg Cemetery.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058-9909. Envelopes will be available at the funeral homes.
