Wilbur L. "Bud" Saunders' Obituary
Wilbur (Bud) Saunders died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Mayfair Village Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Reynoldsburg to the late Lee and Esther (Merle) Saunders.
After graduation from Union School near Granville, Ohio, Wilbur, “Bud” to family and friends, was employed by Great Atlantic Pacific Tea Co (A&P), where he met & married Ann McKim.
He was then employed by Owens Corning Fiberglass in Newark, Ohio. Following service in The United States Army Air Forces in World War II, Bud & family returned to Newark, Ohio. After continuing work at Owens Corning Fiberglass, he later transferred to The Owens Corning Technical Center in Granville, Ohio until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had traveled to Canada several times to fish. He enjoyed playing cards with family & friends. He took great care in maintaining his autos & his yard. He was an avid reader and stayed knowledgeable on current events.
He is survived by his children, James Saunders of Columbus, Linda (Grant) Ferree of Columbus, Joyce (Cecil) Fields of Galloway; grandchildren, Timothy (Kathy) Ferree of Macedonia, Kristin (Troy) Blevins of Columbus, Kelly Fields of Akron; great-grandchildren, Sean, Michael and Justin Blevins, Madelyn and Danielle Ferree; sister, Doris (Robert) Toland and sister-in-law, Lila Saunders.
In addition to his parents, Lee & Esther Saunders, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, of 69 years, Ann E. (McKim) Saunders, November 4, 2010; and his five brothers, Ray, Herbert, Howard, Richard & Martin.
On October 5, a visitation will be observed from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service for Bud as well as for Ann in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home at 1850 West Main Street with Pastor Steve Rath officiating.
