Dear Friends and relatives,
I taught at St. Francis for 37 yrs. Ginnie was one of the first persons I met when we moved from Pa. She helped me find our house. She and Dick were kind, Christian people who helped SFS prosper. They now have their heavenly reward and watch over us, and we are united to them in the mystical body of Christ.
RIP to a wonderful person and friend of so many students.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Ginnie Mattingly. She was a wonderful woman who did a great job in her working time at SFS!! She took fantastic care of her husband 'Ratch' who worshipped the ground she walked on. They were a wonderful couple who devoted their lives to SFS !!!
What a remarkable lady. Mrs. Mattingly's ever present smile and helpful attitude are what I remember most of her. She taught typing to many of us, or at least tried. In her class, we tried to take advantage of her easy going disposition but somehow she commanded respect just by being the kind and gracious person that she was. She and Coach gave themselves so unselfishly to the goals and mission of SFS. Her passing is a sad day for all who knew her. May she enjoy the bounty of her heavenly reward.
Regards,

Ginny was always very kind to me when I played on Dick's varsity basketball team. We went very far in the state tournament in 1959 as underdogs. Dick could successfully coach any sport. Ginny later made sure I could get tickets to the State Championship Game which SFS won in 1983 or so under Val Glinka. It was the first State basketball championship ever by a Toledo school up to that time. I suggest Ginny and Dick's many fans contribute to the Mattingly Scholarship Fund she and Coach set up at St Francis, to which they devoted their lives.
When I saw Mrs. Mattingly (or Coach Mattingly for that matter) in the halls of St. Francis, they commanded such dignity and respect. It was indeed a privilege to know them. Their impact on St. Francis was tremendous!!!
RIP, Ms Mattingly (I could never feel comfortable calling my teacher Ginny or Virginia). She taught me the typing skills that are ever so important to survive in todays computerized world.
She and "Coach" were two of the main building blocks that St. Francis was built upon.

It is with memories of my adopted caretakers during my High School years at St. Francis that come to my minds eye. I loved both Ginnie and Dick for their unconditional love they showed me personally and many others along the way. Some people touch others deeply during their time together. Ginnie was a prime example of this kind of Angel. Rest in peace in the full view of our Savior and Lord.
As fine of a lady who ever graced the hallways of St. Francis de Sales. She and Dick were St. Francis. RIP
