Virginia H. Bodle's Obituary
A funeral service for Virginia H. Bodle, 93 of Newark will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Newark Chapel, Vensil & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main St. with Rev. Shawn Morris officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville. Calling hours will be observed one hour before services.
Mrs. Bodle died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at her residence. She was born September 16, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio to Rudolph G. and Flora (Nast) Lauterbach.
Mrs. Bodle was employed for 25 years at the James Store in sales and as a seamstress. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting for herself and family. She was a member of the Neal Avenue United Methodist Church and actively involved in the ministry including the choir and Young at Heart group. She took great pleasure in gardening and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Goddard of Newark, grandchildren, Cynthia (Bill) Martin of Reynoldsburg, Christine Rice and Brian of Girard, OH, Scott Goddard and Toni of Pataskala; great grandchildren, Paige Martin, Madison Martin, Sidney Martin, Carrington Rice, Megan Fisher, Harley Goddard; brother Richard (Barb) Lauterbach of Ft. Myers, FL; step-daughter, Susan (Steve) Litwiller of Newark; step-granddaughters, Becky and Megan; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Hankinson, second husband, Ted Bodle; sisters, Anne Steward, Patricia Price, Norma Yantes; brother, Robert Lauterbach.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Neal Avenue United Methodist Church, 12 Neal Avenue, Newark, OH 43055. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
