Vernon M. Smith's Obituary
A funeral service for Vernon M. Smith, 88 of Centerburg will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home - Newark Chapel with Rev. Michael Sammons officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown.
Mr. Smith passed away Tuesday evening, February 27, 2024 at Knox Community Hospital, Mt. Vernon. He was born June 5, 1935 in Newark, OH to the late Fred and Lillie (Maharg) Smith.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Smith was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He had worked for Monroe Township.
Survivors include his children, Teresa (Bill) Kelly, Bradley (Teresa) Smith; grandchildren, Tekela, Taylor, Whitney and Dakota; five great grandchildren; and siblings, Georgine (Jerry) Kokensparger and Jimmy Smith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Mae Smith; four brothers and three sisters.
Friends and family may call from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark, OH 43055.
