Tracy L. Athey's Obituary
NEWARK: A funeral service for Tracy L. Athey, 54 of Newark will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Gus Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Tracy died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. He was born March 2, 1961 in Newark to the late Terry Athey and Judith (Hoy) Smith of Newark.Tracy was a former employee at LICCO. He never met a stranger and would always offer a hug or shake a hand. He enjoyed the holidays and liked to sing and dance. He had a wonderful zest for life. He was a sports fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and personally participated in bowling. He was content with a catalog and a frappé from McDonald's.
He is survived by his mother and step-father; Judy (Ron) Smith of Newark; sister, Julia L. Huffman of Hilliard; brother, Terry L. Athey, II of Newark; two nephews; six great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Charles (Mary) Athey, Mabel Hughes, Neil Hoy.
Calling hours will be observed Friday, June 19, 2015 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 West Main Street, Newark. The family requests memorial contributions to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058-9909.
