Tim Taylor's Obituary
A funeral service for Tim Taylor, 74 of Newark will be held Wednesday April 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil and Chute Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor passed away peacefully Friday April 13, 2018 at his residence. He was born August 19, 1943 in Cleveland Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clare Y. and Margaret (Davis) Taylor; infant grandson, Douglas Allen Taylor and lifelong friend Phil Kremer.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gail (Geer) Taylor; two sons, Todd Taylor (Spring Thompson), Jason Taylor all of Newark; granddaughters, Lillian Taylor, Juliet Thompson; loving pets, Chase, Brea, Junior and Lovey.
Tim was a 1961 graduate of Newark High School. He received a B.S. in Industrial Arts Education in 1969 and M.A. In Industrial Technical Education in 1976 at The Ohio State University. He began his teaching career at Westmore Jr. High School in Columbus as the Metal Shop instructor. He then spent eight years as the Woodworking Instructor at Newark High School. He retired in 1997 as the Lead Instructor, Manufacturing Engineering Technology at COTC. He continued to stay involved as a Technical Trainer for several area corporations, including Ariel Corporation, Kern International, and Rolls-Royce Energy Systems until 2015. He had also served as an Industrial Instructor for Diebold, Rockwell Manufacturing, Kaiser Aluminum, Ashcraft Machine Shop, Dow Chemical and Owens Corning Fiberglas.
He had a lifelong love of music and belonged to several bands including Sounds of Music, Rhinegold Band, Redcoats, Chris Weiss and Co. as the drummer. He enjoyed photography, fishing, motorcycling and competitive target shooting. He touched many souls and had an active and alert life.
A visitation will be held Tuesday April 17, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
The family request memorial contributions to the Newark Band Parents Club. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
