Thomas L. Hitchcock's Obituary
Thomas L. Hitchcock, 64 of Newark died Tuesday October 16, 2018 at Mt. Carmel East Medical Center. He was born October 7, 1954 in Dayton to James and Dorothy (Fletcher) Hitchcock.
Tom was employed many years at Holophane/JM. In recent years he also was employed by Schwebel Bakery. He was a 1972 graduate of Heath High School and attended The Ohio State University, Newark Branch and received an associate of arts degree. He was active in the Phi Alpha Beta Fraternity where he had many lifelong friends.
He enjoyed watching all sports. He was a diehard OSU Football and Cleveland Browns Fan. Although he had played co-ed softball for the Bar Rats in Columbus and Heath Eagles where he is a member, his favorite activity was golf. He would play in several leagues during the week.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Hitchcock of Newark; grandchildren, Hannah Bond, Abigail Bond, Preston Luckeydoo, Alyxandra Luckeydoo all of Newark; great-granddaughter, Sofia Bond; fiancé, Cindy Veatch of Newark; her extended family, Jessica and Christy Luthi Green of Newark; Isaac Luthi; sister, Janis (Rick) Wetmore of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Paul (Gini) Hitchcock of Jacksonville, FL, Steve (Debbie) Hitchcock of Seattle, WA; Fraternity brothers, Jim Harrop of Heath, John Randall, Dan Brown, Howard Andrews, Fred Bretz all of Newark, Rod Phillips of Granville, Dave Rico of Columbus, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Martin Hitchcock and fraternity brother, Keith Beatty.
In accordance with his wishes, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
