Sharman E. Meyer's Obituary
A Celebration of Life Service for Sharman E. Meyer will be at 1:00 p.m. on January 8, 2018 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home. Private burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Family and friends may call 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main St, Newark.Sharman, age 66, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 22, 1951, a daughter of Richard E. McClead, Sr. and the late Letha McClead. A 1969 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School in Columbus, she graduated from The Ohio State University in 1973 and worked for many years in the Newark City Schools, primarily as an Intervention Specialist at Wilson Middle School. She was a founding member of the nascent organization that became Hospice of Central Ohio, inspired by the great value of a local hospice from the untimely death of her mother and the home care she had receved in Columbus.
Sharman was an avid reader and, throughout her life, an active quilter, who showered her children and grandchildren with quilts to remember her by. Family was everything to her and she was the Center of their Universe.
She is survived by her husband, Christopher, whom she married on September 8, 1973; her daughter, Elizabeth A. (Lauren) Meyer, daughter, Emily M. (Jeremy) Morris and son, Timothy J. (Julie) Meyer; and by her six beloved grandchildren, Madelyn Meyer, Grayson Meyer, Annabelle Meyer, Isabelle Meyer, Rosalie Morris and Piper Morris. She lived to see the birth of the last five of this precious group during her heroic five year struggle with breast cancer. Also surviving Sharman are her father Richard E. McClead, Sr.; her brother Dr. Richard E. McClead and his wife and her beloved friend, Joanne McClead; her loving sister, Keely (Gary) Thompson; and a multitude of nieces and nephews and in-laws. And special mention to Bailey, who diagnosed her cancer before the doctors did and was her constant companion.
Thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings, that we would scorn to change our state with kings.
