Ruth Eileen Smith's Obituary
NEWARK: A graveside service for Ruth Eileen Smith, 88 of Newark will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Lutheran Cemetery in Franklin Township with Rev. Don Moshgat officiating.
Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born July 23, 1924 in Toboso to the late Charles and Wilda (Brill) Hewitt.
A 1942 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School, Mrs. Smith worked as a book keeper at White Motor Service. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and attended Toboso United Methodist Church. She was a member of O.E.S. #305 and Franklin Grange. Mrs. Smith also worked as a poll worker in Franklin Township for many years. Above all, her family brought her the most enjoyment.
Survivors include her son, David Franklin Smith of Newark; grandchildren, Jason (Sassy) Smith, Justin Franklin (Tiffany Mensing) Smith and Jeffrey Smith, all of Newark; great grandchildren, Dylan and Jayden Smith; brothers, Russell (Aggie) Hewitt of Newark, Loren (Donna) Hewitt of Newark, Richard (Sararose) Hewitt of Toboso; a sister, Martha Rose (Charles) Prouty of Newark; dear friends, Pat, Bob and Katie Walrath and the McClelland family; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar F. Smith, whom she married July 29, 1943 and who died February 18, 1997; a brother, Charles “Chick” Hewitt; and a sister, Helen Hewitt.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Toboso United Methodist Church.
