Ruth Marie Masters' Obituary
A funeral service celebrating the life of Ruth Marie (Stough) Masters, 83 of Newark will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Deacon Patrick Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Masters passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born March 7, 1932 in Newark to the late Maxwell and Mildred (Mack) Stough. She was a 1950 graduate of Newark High School and a Methodist by faith. Mrs. Masters, lovingly referred to as “Meme” by her family, was a kind and gentle woman. She was generous and fiercely loyal. She loved her family, eating out and her frequent trips to Amish Country.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Durward “Dur” Masters, whom she married May 19, 1954; a daughter Susan and son in-law, Tim Moore whom she fondly referred to as “Sonny”; grandsons, Brian Moore of Orlando, FL, Tyler (Natasha Groitzsch) Moore of Newark; great grandson, Jackson Moore of Orlando, FL. Also survived by sister in-law, Nancy Masters; special cousin, Shirley (Mack) and Mike Dolan; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Miss Kitty.
Calling hours will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
The family would like to thank Greystone Hospice and Interim HealthCare for their loving care of Ruth these past 12 days.
