Ruth Ann Benner's Obituary
A funeral service celebrating the life of Ruth Ann Benner, 82 of Thornville will 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Joe Adcock, Dick Duemmel and Mark Kryling officiating. Burial will be at Wheelersburg Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg, OH.
Mrs. Benner died Monday, June 5, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 26, 1941 in Ft. Gay, WV to the late John R. and Ruth (Curnette) Hardwick. A Christian by faith, Mrs. Benner was a member of Southgate Church of Christ where she was active with Thursday School for many years. She enjoyed reading, quilting, puzzles, games with her family and she was an excellent cook. She was a poll worker and presiding judge at her polling location for many years. Above everything, she was devoted to her family.
Survivors include her husband, Frank D. Benner; children, Stephen (Holly) Benner, Kevin (Leslie) Benner, Janet (Steve) Hyland, Teresa (Daniel) Faris, Susan (Bob) Hurst, Jennifer (Drew) Franklin; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a sister, Lorene Robinette.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Leonard Ray Hardwick; and a sister, Lena Mae Watts.
Friends and family may visit from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark, OH.
