Roy A. Cooley's Obituary
Roy A. Cooley, 89, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Monday evening May 11, 2015 at his home.
Born March 10, 1926 in Morgan County, Ohio he was a son of the late Eber C. and Goldie M. (Vanhorn) Cooley Schlereth. Mr. Cooley proudly served his country during World War II, serving in the U. S. Army in the Philippines. He retired in 1988 from Oxford Mining where he was a heavy equipment operator and he was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Roy enjoyed farming, working on small engines, building trailers and shooting guns.
Surviving are three daughters, Donna (Mark) Snyder of West Lafayette, Ohio, Jennifer (Scott) James and Alice Cooley, both of Frazeysburg; one grandson, Travis Scott James of Frazeysburg and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Garnet (Ellis) Cooley whom he married September 4, 1949 and who died January 21, 1994; his twin brother, Ray Cooley; a brother Malcolm Cooley and a sister, Mable Mercer.
The Cooley family would like to give a very special thanks to Roy’s very close friends, Gary and Eileen Untied, Maxine Crawmer and Tim and Pam Roux, and also to Dr. Jack Booth and Kim and Debbie from Genesis Hospice.
Calling hours will be 5pm to 8pm Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, May 15, 2015 at the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Smith officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
