Rose C. Coen's Obituary
NEWARK – Rose C. Coen, 86, of Zanesville, Ohio formerly of Newark, Ohio died Thursday evening, October 6, 2011 at Adams Lane Care Center, Zanesville.
Born December 9, 1924 in Newark she was the daughter of the late George and Forest (Crouse) Belt and was a 1942 graduate of Hebron High School. Mrs. Coen was formerly a member of White Chapel United Methodist Church and later a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Dresden, Ohio. She was also a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hebron American Legion Post 285. She love NASCAR racing and doing jigsaw puzzle and cross-word puzzles. For ten years she was a nurse’s aide at the Heath Convalescent and Care Center. Most of all, she got her most pleasure from being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in-law, John and Ruth Coen of Heath, Ohio and Bob and Sharon Coen of Nashport, Ohio; four grandchildren, Polly (Jerry) Prouty of Newark, Deb (Kevin) Savage of Delaware, Ohio, B. J. (Claudivan) Ribeiro of Weimar, Texas and Mike McCarty of Nashport and two great grandchildren, Alyssa Savage and Gracie Ribeiro.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul A. Coen whom she married September 3, 1942 and who died March 19, 2000 and three sisters Esther West, Ruth Myer and Edith Belt.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7pm Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 Main Street, Zanesville, Ohio with the Rev. Father Martin J. Ralko as Celebrant.
