Ronald McConnell's Obituary
A funeral service for Ronald McConnell, 81 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Ron died Sunday morning, September 17, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 23, 1942 in Newark to the late Paul and Lulu (Hite) McConnell. Ron worked as an electrical contractor. He was a former volunteer with the Newton Township Volunteer Fire Department, former member of Sertoma and St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Louisville. Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and lawn mower repair. He also loved his '82 Chevy pick-up truck.
Survivors include his children, Joseph (Lori) McConnell, David (Teresa) McConnell and Ronda (Dave Clark) McConnell; grandchildren, Matthew, Shannen and Christopher; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Caleb, Johnny and Ellie; and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruth I. McConnell, December 17, 2019; a brother, Dick McConnell; and his special friend and K-9 companion, Missy.
Friends and family may from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
