Today is one of mixed feelings. I learned of the passing of one of the dearest saints Bro. Cummings. My heart is sad for the family knowing their hearts are broken but rejoicing that my brother in Christ is now rejoicing on the streets of Glory.
When my family began attending God's Acres in 1970 Bro Cummings was one of the very first ones to welcome us to the services. I was a teenager but he made such an impression upon my life!! I dearly loved hearing him sing the songs of Zion with Bro. Hanley, and Bro. Myers and when he led the songs service his voice rang out so beautifully. Bro. Cummings was always there, singing the songs of Zion from the depth of his heart, "I Just Want To Thank You Lord", and praising God for his goodness. He stayed strong in his faith, his service regardless of what came his way, his love for the saints & the Lord never waivered! Bro. Cummings fought the good fight of faith, now his race is run now he can truly sing the song with the angels in glory "I don't live in a shack near life's railroad, I don't catter to what sin may bring; but instead I'm surrounded by angels, And I live in the house of a King"! He stood firm remaining faithful serving the Lord with all of his heart putting God first in all things. Bro Cummings loved his family so very, very much & when he'd speak of them many times with tears in his eyes you could feel the love in his voice for each one of them.
I dearly love Bro. Cummings & his entire family. My heart goes out to Sis. Almeda & the entire family. I pray the Lord will wrap His loving arms around you bringing the comfort, peace, strength, guidance and grace needed as each one of you journey down the path life has taken. Even though Bro. Cummings will be greatly missed he will never be forgotten.
