Roger H. Thomas' Obituary
Funeral services for Roger H. Thomas, 65 of Hebron will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday October 14, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, 3301 Orders Road, Grove City with Dr. Jerry Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas died Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born August 21, 1951 in Zanesville, OH to the late Harold and Ada R. (Prince) Thomas.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Thomas in 2014.
Mr. Thomas formerly of Dresden and Groveport retired in 2006 after 33 years with the State of Ohio as a computer programmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grove City. He was active in the church Baptist Builders, a construction ministry and the Men’s Sunday school class. He was a 1969 graduate of Tri-Valley High School and received a degree in Mathematics from Ohio University. He enjoyed traveling and his model train collection. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Darla J. (Yost) Thomas; sisters-in-law, Lynne Thomas of Dresden, Karen Yost of New Lexington; brothers-in-law, Michael (Cindy) Yost, Rodney (Janetta) Yost, Gary (Janice) Yost, Mark (Amy) Yost all of Mt. Perry, Jeff (Regina) Yost of Pataskala, Terry (Pam) Yost of Chandlersville; father and mother-in-law, Marvin and Kathryn Yost of Mt. Perry; several nieces and nephews including Anna Thomas of Dresden, Peter (Amber) Thomas of Johnson City TN; great nieces and great nephews and Sadie Sue.
Calling hours will be observed Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Newark Chapel, VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Baptist Builders, C/o First Baptist Church, 3301 Orders Road, Grove City, OH 43123. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
