Roger R. Miller's Obituary
A funeral service for Roger R. Miller, 64 of Toboso will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Margaret Miller officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
Mr. Miller died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born January 3, 1951 the oldest of six children to the late Walter C. and Evelyn B. (Held) Miller.
He was the owner of the Cherry Hill Backhoe Service and a dairy farmer. He worked a team (Nellie & Cindy) of Belgian Draft Horses. He never met a stranger, enjoyed practical jokes and playing euchre. He was an original member of the Licking Valley Raiders 4-H Club. He had a special place in his heart for Amish country. He has attended the horse pulls at the Hartford Fair for over 40 years. He took great pleasure in family gatherings and especially Christmas Eve at their historic Cherry Hill Farm.
He met the love of his life at 4H Camp in 1966, Cathy A. (Marlatt) Miller, whom he married on August 7, 1971 and celebrates 44 years of marriage on Friday; he is also survived by daughters, Renee (Tim) Hubbard of Port Huron, MI, Laura Miller-Norman of Newark; grandchildren, Jackson Miller, Madelyne Hubbard, Ian Crowthers; twin brother, Ross (Debbie) Miller of Toboso, Ron Miller of Zanesville; sisters, Melanie Mellars and Judy Martin both of Cape Coral, FL, Lois (Pat) LeBold of Newark; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many lifelong friends.
Calling hours will be observed Friday, August 7, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour before services on Saturday at the Newark Chapel of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
The family requests memorial contributions to Licking County Aging Program, LifeLine of Ohio, or the Licking County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
