Roger Metcalf's Obituary
NEWARK: A Memorial Mass for Roger Metcalf, 77 of Newark will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 40 Granville St., Newark with Father JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant.
Roger died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 14, 2017. He was born August 14, 1939 in Columbus to the late Earl and Helen (Corboy) Metcalf. He graduated from Newark High School and attended Ohio University. Roger had worked as a supervisor at E.O.M.
Roger was a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Newark. He had been Athletic Director at Newark Catholic High School; worked as a football official for 35 years and also as an official for basketball, softball and track. He was a Newark High School Athletic Booster and in 2016 he was inducted into the NHS Athletic Hall of Fame for Track & Field.
Survivors include is wife of over 50 years, Linda K. (Hughes) Metcalf; a son, Roger P. Metcalf; grandchildren, Rachel Metcalf and Ryan Metcalf, all of Newark; and a brother, Larry Pagel of Newport Beach, CA.
There will be no calling hours. Friends and family may visit during the mercy meal following Mass on Monday in Johnson Hall at St. Francis.
