Robert E. Wince's Obituary
A funeral service for Robert E. Wince, 85 of Newark will be held Saturday March 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Weber officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Wince died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Arlington Care Center. He was born January 11, 1930 in Newark to the late Harry and Wilma (Barr) Wince.
He retired in 1996 from Newark Township. He was employed as a carpenter for Ora Warner Construction for 35 years and several years at Jutlow. He was a 32 year member of the Newark Twp. Fire Dept., having served as Captain and Asst. Chief. He also had served 10 years as a Newark Twp. Trustee. He was very active in the Jr. Fireman Organization. He enjoyed camping, woodworking and repairing all types of items. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in VanAtta. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid fan of the Newark Wildcats Basketball program. He was a season ticket holder for 48 years and attended as many games as possible.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Katherine (Ellis) Wince, whom he married September 10, 1948; daughter, RoxAnne Brune of Newark; son, Randy Wince of Newark; six grandchildren, Randy (Theresa) Wince of Utica, Rob Wince of Coshocton, Courtney (Joe) Baesmann, Tyler Brune, MacKenzie Brune, Cody (Taylor) Brune and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnne Wince; two great-grandchildren, Cayden Wince and Cameron Wince.
Calling hours will be observed Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Newark Twp. Fire Dept., 300 Deo Drive, Newark, OH 43055-3085. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
