Robert R. Carpenter's Obituary
Graveside funeral services for Robert R. Carpenter, 92 of Newark will be held Saturday August 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hanover Cemetery with Pastor McKinley Brown officiating.
Mr. Carpenter died Sunday August 23, 2015 at Heartland of Fairfield in Pleasantville. He was born January 29, 1923 in Muskingum County to the late Wallace and Bessie (Berkshire) Carpenter.
Mr. Carpenter was retired from Georgia Pacific in Newark. He was a member of the Thornville Community Nazarene Church. He was involved with the food pantry operated by the church. He was a car enthusiast, enjoyed traveling, collecting model cars, pens and pencils. He stayed current with local and national news throughout his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Geraldine M. (Sudduth) Carpenter whom he married in 1944; sister-in-law, Eva Johnson of Newark; niece, Dianna Johnson of Newark; nephews, Dale (Carol) Johnson of Vermillion, Wayne (Becky) Johnson of Newark; great niece, Julie (Charlie) DePriest of Newark; great nephew, Kevin (Anna) Johnson, Prague; great-great nephew, Anthony Johnson.
Calling hours will be observed Saturday August 29, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Newark Chapel of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
A memorial service is planned later on Saturday September 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heartland of Fairfield, 7820 Pleasantville, Road, Pleasantville, OH.
