Richard H. Yantis' Obituary
A funeral service for Richard H. Yantis, 68 of Heath will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Noel Dear officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Yantis died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. He was born December 25, 1944 in Columbus to the late Richard Carl and Eleanore Elizabeth (Miller) Yantis.
He retired in 1996 as a Licking County Animal Control Officer with 21 years of service. He was active for 31 years as a 4H advisor in the Rabbit and Poultry Division. He and his wife chartered the Animal House 4H Club in 1981. He was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. He was actively
involved with many of the 4H events at the Hartford Fair. The care of animals was a passion throughout his life.
He is survived by two sons, Bradley (JoAnn) Yantis of Mt. Vernon, Bryan Yantis of Heath; granddaughters, Jillian Yantis, Madelyn Yantis; sister, Rita (Hassan) Zandieh of Dublin; brother, Robert J. (Patricia) Yantis of Gahanna; and four nieces.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl D. (Lucas) Yantis in 2004.
Calling hours will be observed Wednesday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
