Richard "Dick" G. Bowden's Obituary
Richard "Dick" G. Bowden, 73, of Norwich, Ohio, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, June 1, 2024, at Genesis Hospital Emergency Room in Zanesville.
Born October 17, 1950, he was the son of the late Glen O. and Marjorie B. (Kreis) Bowden and a 1968 graduate of Tri-Valley High School. Dick spent over 50 years as an independent carpet installer for various companies in the area and was a member of the Zanesville Eagles, F.O.E. 302. He was a handy man who could fix anything. Dick enjoyed target shooting, fishing, and tending to his farm.
Surviving is a son, Shane (Leisa Rush) Bowden; two daughters, Karen (William Echelberry) Bowden and Missy (Ryan) Smith; six grandchildren, Tyler (Amy) Atkins, Madison Atkins, Brittney Miller, Kelsey Solt, Reece Smith and Jenna Smith; three great grandchildren, T.J., Peyton and Daniel Atkins; two sisters, Bonnie (Darlene Turner) Bowden and Beverly (Bud) Mitchell; two nieces, Tammy Barnhart and Pam Mitchell; a nephew, Doug Mitchell and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynette Bowden, and his faithful dog, Punky.
Friends and family may call Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 6, 2024, 10:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Wells officiating.
Dick will be laid to rest beside his daughter, Lynette, at New Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Adamsville, Ohio.
