Rebecca "Becky" J Carlin's Obituary
HEATH: A funeral service celebrating the life of Rebecca “Becky” Carlin, 58 of Heath, formerly of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Brand officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Becky passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 30, 1957 in Newark to Forrest and Thelma (Acord) Smythe who survive. Becky was a 1976 graduate of Utica High School and worked as an Underwriting Assistant at State Farm Insurance. She was active in the Moose Lodge; a past president of the Women of the Moose. She was a Creative Leader for Initials, Inc. Becky and her husband John were among the founders of NASA Soccer. She was a supporter of the Licking County 4-H Band. She enjoyed baking cookies and gardening. Her greatest love was of family; she loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports.
In addition to her parents Becky is survived by her fiancé, Charles R. Spurgeon of Heath; a daughter and son in-law, Trisha and Kenneth Schwartz of Apex, NC; a son and daughter in-law, Mark and Erica Carlin of Newark; grandchildren, Kody, Brooklynn, and Trevor Schwartz, Ryleigh, Bayleigh and John Carlin; a sister, Marsha (Terry Conley) Cochenour of Newark; a niece, Bethany (Derek) Simon; a nephew, Eric (Charity) Lindsy; and special friends, Tom (Anna Colopy) Campbell and Patti and John Scharff.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Carlin whom she married August 6, 1983 and who died October 15, 2006.
Friends and family may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
The family wishes to express thanks to all of those who supported Becky in the past year throughout her illness, especial those who assisted with transportation to chemotherapy treatments.
