Ralph McCoy, Jr.'s Obituary
A funeral service for Ralph McCoy, Jr. 94 of Heath will be held Friday January 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will follow the service in Newark Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be observed Friday January 26, 2018 from 11 am to 1 pm at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
Mr. McCoy died Sunday January 14, 2018 in St. Petersburg, FL. He was born July 31, 1923 in Nutter Fort, W VA to Ralph and Marie V. (Eddy) McCoy.
Ralph was the first hourly employee of the Newark facility, at F.J. Kress Box later known as St. Regis and currently Georgia Pacific, retiring after 38 years. He was a charter member of the Heath United Methodist Church. He loved fishing and hunting small game. He spent the summer tending to a large vegetable garden. His family would then all work together to can the produce from their endeavor. In more recent years he has enjoyed spending the winters in Florida.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Bob) Lohrman of Pinellas Park, Florida, Sharon (Rick) Hinty of Pinellas Park, FL, Debra (Steve) Osgood of Galloway, OH; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Nettie McCoy of St. Louisville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, L. Mildred (Riffle) McCoy, September 14, 2007; four brothers, Ross, Linden, Ermin and Frank.
