Phyllis M Stalling's Obituary
A funeral service for Phyllis M. Stalling, 87 of Newark will be held Monday February 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Shawn Morris officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Stalling died Thursday February 9, 2017 at her residence. She was born June 10, 1929 in Newark to Charles W. and Harriet (Sines) Hoyt.
Phyllis had been employed as a food server in several local restaurants including Moundbuilders Country Club, Carousel, Sparta, Green Light, M&S Restaurant and Marco Island Diner in Florida. She was a 48 year member of Newark Eagles #387 Auxiliary, Newark Eagles Reac, Sliver Club, Buckeye Lake Senior Citizens, Neal Avenue United Methodist Church and the Young at Heart group.
She is survived by nine children, Phillip (Christi) Stalling, Sr. of St. Louisville, Brenda (Larry) Cass of Newark, Atha “Sis” Shrivers of Nashport, Hershell (Linda) Stalling, Jr. of Naples, FL, Wendell (Susie) Stalling of Newark, Margaret (Bob) Kieber of Newark, Rhonda (Jeff) Wilson of Hebron, Jacquelyn Overbey of Newark, Mark (Lynne) Stalling of Granville; 39 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Hershell Stalling, Sr.; daughter, Betty Jo Stalling; three sisters, Thelma Butts, Evelyn Schneider, Alma Ray; son-in-law’s, Bob Shrivers, Tony Overbey and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday February 12, 2017 from 2pm to 5pm at the VENSIL AND CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street. The Eagles Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 5 p.m.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio P.O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058-0430. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
