Penny L. Garno's Obituary
A funeral service celebrating the life of Penny L. Garno, 61 of Newark will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Kevin Koske and Chris Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Mrs. Garno passed away unexpectedly January 9, 2014 at her home. She was born April 23, 1952 in Lima to the late Leo H. and Dorothy (Fittro) Storer. She was a graduate of Lima Memorial High School and had recently worked for Tween Brands, additionally she worked for G.E. in Hebron, Timbuk Farms, and Granville Apartments. Penny liked cooking, including baking pies. She enjoyed variety of outdoor activities, deer hunting, mushroom hunting, picking raspberries and gardening. Penny also made beautiful latch hook rugs. She volunteered in the community with the MDA “Fill the Boot” Campaign. She collected Teddy Bears and had a great love for her five cats. In all, her family was most important to her.
Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Garno; a son, Tony (Alyssa) Shuley of Mt. Vernon; daughters, Mary (Travis) Tipton of Mt. Vernon, Angie (Tim) Melick, Crissy Garling, all of Virginia Beach, VA, Monica Smitley of Newark; a step daughter, Crystal Stidham of Newark; a brother, Tony (Karen) Storer; a sister, Judy Edgington; 14 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 2 step-grandchildren; her best friend, Tami (Randy) Stapleton; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
