Norman D. Hans' Obituary
A funeral service for Norman D. Hans, 79 of Granville will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Monsignor Paul P. Enke officiating. Interment will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
Norm went home to be with the Lord March 29, 2012 at Generations Hospice in Newark. He was born December 13, 1932 in Shadyside, Ohio to the late Joseph and Mildred Hans. A graduate of West Liberty University with a B.S. in Chemistry, Norm retired from Bayer Corporation as a Senior Chemist. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force; for four years of active duty as a Flight Engineer and twenty years in the reserves, retiring as a Senior Master Sargent. Norm loved flying; antique cars, especially Studebakers and Avantes; golfing; and his beautiful Irish Setter, Braidaigh. Norm was a generous, soft-spoken, quick witted, “laid back good guy” who was so very much loved by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Maureen (Tozzie) Hans, who he married November 23, 1974; his siblings, Joseph M. (Shirley) Hans of Las Vegas, NV, Glenna Horsburgh, of Wheeling, WV, William (Donna) Hans of Martins Ferry, and Gregory (Valerie) Hans of Granville; 18 beloved nieces and nephews; 20 beloved great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Generations Hospice, 65 McMillen Drive, Newark, OH 43055.
