Mikeal Norman Ashcraft's Obituary
NEWARK: A funeral service celebrating the life of Mikeal Norman Ashcraft, 33 of Columbus will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home (“Mikey, be there at 10!”). Burial will follow in Kirkersville Cemetery.
Mike passed away suddenly Friday, August 12, 2011 at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus. He was born November 15, 1977 in Newark to Thomas and Sue (Snyder) Ashcraft. A 1996 graduate of Newark High School, Mike worked as a chef at various establishments in central Ohio. He loved animals and sports. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and a Cleveland Browns fan.
Survivors include his parents, Thomas Ashcraft and Sue (David) Neudecker, all of Newark; maternal grandmother, Virginia Snyder of Thornville; his wife, Katie Fishman of Columbus; brothers, Tomas L. (Melissa) Ashcraft, and Joshawa T. Ashcraft, all of Newark; nieces and nephews, Kyla, Cole, Caleb , Anthony, and Kenneth Ashcraft, and Ethan Worth; two step brothers; one step sister; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leland R. and Mary Lou (McGinnis) Ashcraft; maternal grandfather, Norman Snyder; and his loving pets.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at VENSIL-ORR & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark. Additional calling hours will be observed one hour prior to the funeral service.
