Michael David Smith, 69, of Nashport, Ohio died Saturday morning, May 8, 2021 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio. Born August 1, 1951 in Zanesville he was a son of the late Leonard Gene Smith and Dorothy E. (Ashcraft) Read Obituary
Mike was a kind and generous man and a True Buckeye! We greatly enjoyed working with him on the Board of Governors of The OSU Alumni Club of Muskingum County. He was a great story-teller and we will always treasure his tales of his days as "Brutus Buckeye" and of OSU basketball with Coach Fred Taylor. We will miss Mike and we offer our sincere condolences and prayers for his family and friends.

To the Smith Family, sorry to read of your loss. Your family are in our prayers. When I was in college, my soph. year we played OSU Newark, before the Ohio State game, on a Monday night , OUZ was allowed to go up and practice on Sunday, It was Mike that took us around on a tour of St. John Arena after practice. We came back up on Monday and won. Thanks Mike for giving me a memory, that I will never forget, that's right there with the 4 foul shots I made to clinch the victory in front of 12,000 screaming Buckeye fans. Mike, I feel Blessed to have known you when we worked together at SPAWAR. You were so positive all of the time and you always put others before yourself. Such a kind and caring soul. The world is a bit darker without you in it.
