Michael Nutter's Obituary
A funeral service for Michael Nutter, 84 of Newark will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Dave Mason officiating. Burial will be at Frazeysburg Cemetery.
Mr. Nutter passed away February 1, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. He was born August 17, 1939 in Zanesville, OH to the late Guyle Malcom and Virginia Louise (Corner) Nutter.
A graduate of Zanesville High School, Mr. Nutter was a veteran the U.S. Army. He worked for B&O Railroad which later became CSX for 30 years. A railroader, through and through, he was the last living Newark Yard Master. In addition to working on the railroad, he operated Nutter Painting in Newark. He was a member of American Legion Post 804.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Kay (Hunkins) Nutter; a daughter, Jennifer (B.J.) Yates of Newark; children by marriage, Michael (Debbie) Montgomery of Sunbury, OH and Marcus Montgomery of Heath, OH; grandchildren, Graham (Ashleigh) Montgomery, Jared Montgomery, Dylan Yates, Madison Yates, and Baileigh Yates.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
