Mary E. Mick's Obituary
This earth was blessed with an angel, now she is home in the arms of God.
On Saturday, March 3, 2012 surrounded by family at her home, Mary E. Mick of Newark completed her amazing life journey at the age of 80. After a courageous battle with cancer, she won and went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mary Esther (Brown) Mick was born in Hanover, Ohio to the late Webster and Esther (Anderson) Brown on December 4, 1931. She married the love of her life, John D. Mick, Sr. on July 1, 1956 at Christian Apostolic Church in Newark, where they have been active members together.
A 1951 graduate of Hanover Toboso High School, Mary enjoyed life and could find humor in any situation. She enjoyed the outdoors by gardening, farming and hunting yet excelled at indoor activities such as crafts, crocheting, collecting glassware and cooking unbelievable meals for her family. Mary’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy and she loved them all dearly. She was known for her willingness to always help others, her constant energy and zest for life.
Mary is survived by her loving husband John; daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Waters, son, John (Donna) Mick, daughter, Shawna (David) Studer; grandchildren, Peter (Jenny) Muzykoski, Jr.,Ryan (Meredith) Muzykoski, Heath (Jodi) Waters, Tara (Kyle) Gordon, Heather Mick; great-grandchildren, Brea, Crae, Haylee, Layna, Hayden, Kyla, Kenly and Ryan; sisters, Juanita (Ray) Green and Irene (Sebert) Wilson; brothers, Dwight (Sharon) Brown and Daniel (Nancy) Brown; also many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene (Ruth) Brown and sister, Mildred Brown.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Christian Apostolic Church, 22 N 23rd St, Newark, OH 43055, with Pastor G. Keith Sjöstrand officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Newark Chapel of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 West Main St, Newark, OH 43055 and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Christian Apostolic Church.
