Mary E. Friend's Obituary
A funeral service for Mary E. Friend, 77 of Newark will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Paugh officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
Mrs. Friend died Friday, January 25, 2013 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She was born in Fargo, ND on May 21, 1935.
She was a former cook at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She enjoyed gardening, completing puzzles, playing cards and watching the game show network. Her family enjoyed camping trips and reflected on her ability to forgive and willingness to help others.
She is survived by five daughters, Nora (Ken) Bangs of Souris,ND, Bonnie (David) Wyers of Newark, Annette Friend of Newark, Sandy Myers of Newark, Tammy (Scott) Justice of Durham, NC; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Buddy (Karla) Myers of Seattle, WA; sisters, Irene (Joe) Harris of Spokane, WA, Jean (Fred) Tews of Middleton ID; sister-in-laws, Jaunice Weekley of Newark, Judy (Russell) Friend of St. Louisville; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her step-father and mother, Clarence and Christina (Brandner) Myers, husband, Ralph E. Friend and a sister.
Calling hours will be observed Tuesday from noon till 2:00 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Activities Fund c/o Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center 1450 W. Main St. Newark, Ohio 43055. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
