Mary "Linda" Dablemont's Obituary
Funeral services for Mary Malinda “Linda” (Maxwell) Dablemont were held on Saturday January 28, 2012 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla Missouri. Vensil & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street was entrusted with local arrangements.
Mary Malinda “Linda” (Maxwell) Dablemont was born January 7, 1939 in a log cabin in Maries County, Missouri, to Thomas Guy and Mary (Fannon) Maxwell. She died January 21, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 73. Burial will take place in the Wynn-Maxwell Cemetery, less than two miles from where she was born.
Linda attended the Miller School and the Adams School and worked at Brown Shoe Company in St. Louis before marrying John V. Dablemont on November 9, 1956.
Linda and John lived in St. Louis and Rolla, and then moved to Flat and Edgar Springs, Missouri, and North Hodge, Louisiana, to pastor the Church of God in those towns. When they retired from the pastorate, they began co-driving a semi for North American Van Lines. Their travels took them all over the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Linda also traveled to Germany and visited The Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. She moved to Newark, Ohio in 2008.
Mom took care of everyone, from cooking at many camp meetings and church functions, to opening her home to anyone Dad brought home. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. Her biscuits and chicken and dumplings were legendary. She was also a breast cancer survivor.
Surviving are their four children, Yvonne (Karl) Lohr of Newark, Ohio, Tim (Debbie) Dablemont of Caddo Mills, Texas, Becky (Tom) Foster of Newark, Ohio and Deanna Thompson of Aurora, Colorado. She was a loving Grandma to her fourteen grandchildren, Dave, Andy, Hope, Sarah, Charity, Katie, Patience, Stephanie, Joy, Julie, Monica, T.J., Lindie, and Victoria. She cherished her thirteen great-grandchildren and was excited that two more are on the way. Also surviving are her siblings Lyda Mae (Don) Mathis, Ernest (Lynn) Maxwell, Jim (Pat) Maxwell, and Darlene James; sisters-in-law, Virginia Maxwell, Alma Vogeler, Betty Dablemont, and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers, Martin Maxwell and Willis Maxwell and sister Alice Rosenburg.
We love you so much and miss you already Mom.
