Mary Blanche Allbaugh-Reed's Obituary
A funeral service for Mary Blanche (Holman) Allbaugh-Reed, 98 of Newark will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Hock officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
Mrs. Allbaugh-Reed passed away May 3, 2016 at her residence. She was born September 28, 1917 in Newark, the 9th of 14 children to the late John Henry and Frances (Love) Holman. Mrs. Allbaugh-Reed attended Newark High School. She began her career with the Heisey Company. During World War II she worked at Pharis Tire and Rubber making inner-tubes for bombers. She worked at the Newark Hospital and then later as a private duty nurse in the 1930’s and 1940’s. In 1956 she began working for the Kroger Company and retried in 1973 after 17 years of service. Mrs. Allbaugh-Reed was a member of the Eastland Heights Baptist Church.
Survived by her children, Clyde (Sue Ann) Allbaugh of Dade City, FL., Edwin Allbaugh of Newark, and Lois Wycoff of Newark; a daughter in-law, Patricia (Matthews) Allbaugh of Parrotsville, TN; grandchildren, Diana Joan Saker, Stephanie McQuade, Andrea Driscoll, David Allbaugh, Gabriela Allbaugh, Michelle Mueller, Jeffery Allbaugh, Edie Coleman, E. J. Allbaugh, Troy Barrett, Louene Allbaugh, Gail Caldwell, Dwayne Allbaugh, Alicia Hirst, Christa Selnick and Wayne Wycoff; 32 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her siblings, Mrs. Allbaugh-Reed was preceded in death by her first husband, David Earl Allbaugh in 1987; her second husband, Harold A. Reed in 2000; and a son, Durwin Allbaugh in 2006.
Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Garth Bennington, the staff at Licking Memorial Hospital and Flint Ridge Rehabilitation Center, Rev. Ron Hock, Vensil & Chute, Hospice of Central Ohio and the many friends and neighbors who gave care and comfort to our mother and to each of us during her recent illness.
