Mary's Obituary
A funeral service Mary (Polly) Salyer, 82 of Newark will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Community Wesleyan Church, 161 Myrtle Avenue, Newark with Pastor Norm Wright, Pastor Chris Dyer and Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will be at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Salyer died Monday, June 16, 2014 at Kindred of Newark. She was born April 29, 1932 in Perry County to the late Paul R. and Mary C. (Wohrle) James. Both her parents preceded her by the age of 3 and Polly was adopted and raised by her grandparents, Oscar and Eva James. She was a 1950 graduate of Glenford High School. She worked as head teller for PNC Bank, retiring after 32 years. Polly then worked for Hospice of Central Ohio for 13 years. She was a member of Community Wesleyan Church where she had served as church secretary, Sunday School Teacher and as Children and Youth Director.
Survivors include her husband, Carl C. Salyer; sons, Jeff (Angela) Salyer of Newark and Jim (Penny) Salyer of Columbus; a sister, Rhoda Albert of Heath; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
Friends and family may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
