Marilyn D. Shroyer's Obituary
A funeral service celebrating the life of Marilyn D. Shroyer, 86 of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Newark will be held Friday March 24, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Paul Snoddy and Pastor Roger Tickle officiating. Burial will be in Perryton Cemetery.
Marilyn died Monday March 20, 2017 at home. She was born January 26, 1931 in Newark to Orville and Gertrude (Mikesell) Phillips.
Marilyn was a member of the Tri-Village Christian Church and Young At Heart Class. Throughout her life she was active in church as Sunday school teacher and served as a deaconate. She also helped many years with VBS and worked on the blood mobile and was well known for her pie baking. She loved to read. She never met a stranger, she would strike up a conversation with anyone. She loved animals and they loved her.
She is survived by daughter, Diana (Randy) McQueen of Mt. Vernon; sons, Mark (Robin) Shroyer of Zanesville, Steven (Annette) Shroyer of Heath; six grandchildren, Dusty, Andy, Joe, Jennifer, Matthew, Joshua and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lawrence E. “Larry” Shroyer on January 19, 2017; son, John Shroyer; sisters, Lillian Jones, Genevieve O’Dell; brother, John Phillips.
Calling hours will be observed Thursday March 23, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
