Margaret "Peggy" Osborn Lucas' Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Osborn "Peggy" Lucas, age 83, 1600 Harmony Road, Silver Creek, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Lucas was born in Newark, Ohio on May 19, 1930, daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Walker Osborn. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Warman, and by 4 brothers, Leroy, Morgan, Pete, and Bill Osborn. She devoted her life to her family and in service to her Lord. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and began playing the piano at Perryton Christian Church in Newark, Ohio when she was only 12 years old. She served as a choir director, pianist, and organist at many United Methodist Churches in Georgia including Atlanta, Alpharetta, Marietta, and Silver Creek. She also served at the Aragon United Methodist Church in Aragon, GA where she was a member.
Survivors include her loving family, who she devoted her life to: her husband, Donald Emerson "Don" Lucas, to whom she was married on June 8, 1948; 3 daughters, Mrs. Cathy Maddox, and her husband, Randy, Silver Creek, GA, Ms. Debra Holden, and Michael, Rome, GA, and Mrs. Lisa Buchanan, and her husband, Kevin Hodge, Powder Springs, GA; 4 sons, Donnie Lucas, and his wife, Becky, Temple, TX, Dick Lucas, and his wife, Brenda, Decatur, AL, Ronnie Lucas, and his wife, Wanda, Woodstock, GA, and Mike Lucas, and his wife, Debbie, Silver Creek, GA; a brother, Robert Osborn, Morrow Bay, CA; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Sue Rector, Frazeysburg, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Humphrey, Newark, Ohio, and Mrs. Narcissa Osborn, Newark, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Mickey Moss, Dr. Larry Wilson, and the Rev. Michael Holt officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.
