Lois J Crouse's Obituary
A funeral service for Lois J. Crouse, 89 of Newark will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 88 N. Fifth Street with Pastor Steve Rath officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Crouse died Sunday May 1, 2016 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born March 27, 1927 in Columbus to Edward Leslie and Dorrine Belle (Cocklin) LeBay.
Her family linage dates back to the one of the first families in Licking County. She was an active member of the Licking County Genealogical Society. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1953. She had served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the chancel guild, Candlelighters, Co Leader Miraim Circle and then member of Elizabeth Circle, a member of Emmaus New ARK Community. She enjoyed card club, cooking and flower gardening. Her favorite pastime was spent with family and took special pleasure in providing family dinners.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen A. Crouse, James B. Crouse both of Newark; grandchildren, Katie (Shawn) Hatem of Somerset, Joshua B. Crouse, Jessica L. (Brett) Hanes, Andrew (Torri) Crouse all of Newark; great grandchildren, Beau Hatem, Seth Hatem, Olivia Hatem, Ryleigh Hanes, Ethan Hanes; sister, Carol Bowker of Columbus; many friends and extended family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin L. Crouse, who died on October 22, 2002.
Calling hours will be observed Thursday May 5, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Newark Chapel, VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
The family requests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
