Leonard A. Lebold's Obituary
A funeral service celebrating the life of Leonard Alvin Lebold, 89, of Heath, will be held at the Heath Church of Christ,1331 Chapel Way, Heath, Ohio Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM with Ray Linn officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Leonard peacefully walked into his heavenly home on Thursday morning, December 5th at the Kendal at Granville after a brief illness.
He was born November 26, 1924 in Toboso, OH, the only child, of the late Walter Leslie and Dorothy Blye Felumlee Lebold. He was a 1942 graduate of Hanover Toboso High School. Leonard, a United States Navy WW II veteran, proudly served his country from 1943-1946 in the South Pacific Theater as a gunner's mate. He was a professional truck driver, driving Pure Oil (which later became Union Oil) gasoline transports for 42 1/2 years before his retirement. Leonard helped to coordinate and made several trips to North Carolina and Kentucky to help with relief efforts after natural disasters. He enjoyed traveling around the United States, pulling their trailer and woodworking projects.
Leonard proudly wore many titles including husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Ann (Cross) Lebold whom he married on February 14, 1948; daughter, Leslie (Mark) Smith of Newark, OH; granddaughter, Jennifer (Aaron) Johnson of Indianapolis, IN and great grandchildren Noah and Lucy Johnson of Indianapolis, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three aunts.
Calling hours will be Monday, December 9, 2013 from 3 -5 PM at the Newark Chapel of the Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street.
