Leo V. Bennett's Obituary
A funeral service for Leo V. Bennett, 84 of Newark will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Roger Conley officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Mr. Bennett died Tuesday August 16, 2016 at the Sharon Brooke Inn. He was born n Buckhannon, WVA to Noah and Lelah (Hinkle) Bennett.
He retired in 1990 with over 30 years of service with Licking Valley Schools. He served as the custodian at Madison Elementary School and a district school bus driver. He had attended the Newark Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors especially camping and gardening. He liked following the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth (Futrell) Bennett, whom he married September 15, 1951; six children, Karen (Rob) Goodman, Vicky Bennett, William (Lissa) Bennett, Mark Bennett, Keith Bennett, Kevin (Denise) Bennett; sister, Pearl (Paul) Holcutt all of Newark; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with an additional one expected; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by fourteen sisters and brothers.
Calling hours will be observed Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Hospice of Central Ohio.
