Lawrence "Larry" Shroyer's Obituary
A funeral service celebrating the life of Lawrence E. “Larry” Shroyer, 86 of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Paul Snoddy and Pastor Roger Tickle officiating. Burial will be in Perryton Cemetery.
Larry died January 19, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born August 26, 1930 in Zanesville to the late John and Leanore (Dorsey) Shroyer. He was a graduate of Nashport High School and worked as a Train Dispatcher for 37 years. Larry was a member of Tri-Village Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon and was active in the Young At Heart Class. Additionally he was a member of the American Train Dispatchers.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marilyn (Phillips) Shroyer, whom he married May 1, 1949; sons, Mark (Robin) Shroyer of Zanesville, Steven (Annette) Shroyer of Heath; daughter, Diana (Randy) McQueen of Mt. Vernon; 6 grandchildren, Dusty, Andy, Joe, Jennifer, Joshua, and Matthew; and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a son, John Shroyer ; and a brother, Otis Shroyer.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Village Christian Church or Hospice of Knox County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
