Lawrence E. Houston's Obituary
A memorial service for Lawrence E. Houston, 73 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Gill officiating. Burial will take place at Irville Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Houston passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. He was born November 14, 1942 in Zanesville to the late George B. and Eva J. (Ferrell) Houston. A 1960 graduate of Zanesville High School, Mr. Houston had worked as a machinist for Cooper Energy and Rolls Royce. He was an avid golfer developing a love of the game early in his life as a caddy at the Zanesville Country Club. He also enjoyed hunting and was a huge Ohio State Buckeye’s fan!
Survivors include his daughter, Stacey (Troy) Butler of Granville; a son, Brad (Kim) Houston of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; grandchildren, Vince Houston of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Emma Butler of Rennes, France, Brennan Butler of Salem, OR, and Gracie Butler of Granville; brothers, Bill (Linda) Houston of Florence, KY, Kenny Houston, Terry Houston, Jeff Houston all of Zanesville; sisters, Sue (Max) Lohman of Sun City, AZ, Mona Hawkins and Marsha (Allen) Griffin, all of Zanesville.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Houston was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret L. “Peggy” Houston, January 24, 2014; and a brother, George “Junior” Houston.
Friends and family may visit 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
